As a Finn and ex-Helsinki inhabitant, I know a lot about the city
Well – I would say that start tour at the Market square in the morning. Take a ferry from there to Suomenlinna Fortress (15 min) walk 30 min there, take ferry back (15 min). Walk via the Senate square (Cathedral, senate, university) (20 min) to Stockmann Department store – take a rapid tour (max 1 h) of this biggest one in the Nordics. Then go and see the modern Kamppi shopping centre. Finish the tour to the Railway station, where the Finnair bus leaves. Have a beer e.g. the nice Czeck-styled restaurant, Vltava, http://www.vltava.fi/
