The first time I went to this place

I just loved visiting Derry – it is such a pretty place! The locals are very friendly and polite, and the countryside is so quaint! I had a great tour guide, my friend Jim, and we went for a lovely drive into the mountains – it was an unforgettable visit!

San Francisco

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

San Francisco was the first city of America that I had ever visited from my home in Adelaide, Australia. I immediately loved this gorgeous place and felt right at home.

The first time I visited, I stayed in the city centre at the Marriott and then at the Handlery in Union Square. Both very different hotels and lovely in their own right. The design of the Marriott was unique and one of the locals referred to it as the “jukebox”. Our room at the Handlery had a sweet window seat and little table for meals.

During my last visit to San Francisco, my friend and I stayed at the Grant Plaza Hotel in Chinatown. It was a totally different experience. This hotel was situated right in the hubbub of Chinatown, and I loved the energy and the atmosphere. We bought some beautiful silver and jade jewellery, amongst other things.

I can’t wait for my next visit in a few weeks, as I get to spend some time with my friend and her family in the Napa Valley. We then get to stay at the Renaissance Parc 55 Hotel.
I will write about this in my next entry on San Francisco.

Carlsbad

Pretty place!

We had a fantastic time in Carlsbad. The weather was gorgeous and the living was easy. Across the road from our hotel was a lovely Greek restaurant that served delicious food and I finally got to have some Greek coffee since arriving to America. I had withdrawal symptoms for all of 3 days!!!!

The outlet shops were excellent and I picked up stacks of bargains. I even found the Swarovski outlet and it was the only one in The States. The prices were fantastic and I bought lots of unusual pieces, including a gorgeous mint green suede and crystal handbag!

I would definitely recommend Carlsbad as it was lots of fun!

San Diego

How this place changed my life

I finally got to San Diego and had the most glorious time there. We stayed at the Gaslamp Quarter and we were walking distance from the Convention Centre.
This place changed my life because it was the first time that I had celebrated the 4th of July in the States and it was a very memorable event – one that I will never forget.
We went on a fun-filled cruise and we even got to do karaoke twice!!We also checked out the outlet shops in Carlsbad.
I will never forget San Diego and I am definitely going back some day – sooner rather than later.

Singapore Sling

I love Singapore – from its shopping to its great attractions. We have always had a great time and I had my first Singapore Sling there but unfortunately Raffles wasn’t open at the time.

Very interesting museum

We had a great time here and the boys loved the trains and cars. There was an interactive section where they spent a lot of time. I loved the glass blowing demonstration and I bought some unique glass presents for my friends and family back in Adelaide.

Beautiful city

We had a great time in Munich. The boys loved the toy shop right in the city – I forget its name- and they bought a few things from there, even though they were bit on the expensive side. I bought some beautiful glass bead bracelets and a porcelain doll dressed in traditional Bavarian costume!

Lago di Como

The view!!!!

We stayed here with our sons and they couldn’t get over the view of the lake from the hotel balcony. When we checked in the night before, it was really late and so they didn’t see anything, but when they woke up the next day, they were in awe of the view!
We had dinner at the house of some friend’s and my then 5 year old ate ‘Quail fettucine with truffles’ and he still remembers it.
My only regret was not buying more Venetian glass beads so I need to visit again.

Kos

Worth visiting!

Small and friendly

My mum was born here and I had many adventures with my sister and cousins during my first visit in 1976.
I have lived here for a while and have loved it as my aunty still lives here and she is like a second mum to me.
The island is sweet and once you get off the tourist track, there are wonderful times of being one with nature!
