    Staten Island Zoo

    Worth visiting!

    Untitled  — 1 year ago

The S.I. zoo is VERY focused on reptiles. This is obviously good if you like reptiles. If you’re looking beyond that you may be disappointed, but I haven’t been there in years so you may just want to go have a look for yourself.

    Snug Harbor

    Worth visiting!

    Untitled  — 1 year ago

I’m glad my family took me to Snug Harbor when I was younger; so many Staten Islanders don’t even know it exists. Theres a really nice children’s learning museum there (I remember loving it when I was about 8), beautiful gardens and a wide range of events like festivals, concerts and plays that go on there throughout the year. Really worth checking out, especially if you find S.I. to be devoid of culture.

    Staten Island Ferry Terminal

    Not worth it!

    Untitled  — 1 year ago

I used to live on S.I. and work in downtown Manhattan and every day on my way home from work a confused tourist would ask me why I was on the boat and where it was going. The Staten Island Ferry is a commuter boat, when it gets to the other side they will force you to get off and you’ll be in Staten Island, which, lets face it, is really not somewhere you want to be when you should be looking at all the fun touristy stuff in Manhattan. If you’re looking for a free view of the Statue of Liberty (no, it won’t actually take you there, but you can see it) or really like gardens (Snug Harbor is in walking distance from the ferry and has beautiful gardens) take the S.I. ferry. Otherwise don’t. Its a waste of 40 minutes of your life.
