I wish that I could afford to live there. I visit family there often, and we never run out of things to do. I think that it’s a pretty city too, for being so big.

I was living in Amarillo at the time and had this maddening desire to see water. We drove all the way down to Galveston, and needless to say, I was not impressed. I’m from Hawaii, after all.

I have to take a lot of books to read while visiting this city. I only go there to visit family. It has got to be one of the ugliest cities I’ve ever seen. Flat, dry…flat. Blech.

Unless it’s during a cooler month. The summer there is UNBEARABLE. Humid and sticky are understatements. I have to admit that Orlando has some great nightclubs though.

I was not impressed. Though the kids liked it.

Atlanta…this place just literally BUZZES. I’d like to visit there again for pleasure and not just business. I really didn’t have as much time as I wanted to to get around, and I kept getting lost!

Although the original family no longer lives there, the original slave cabins are still up. They give you a tour of the mansion, and then you get to walk the premises and go inside the cabins. I picked cotton for my scrapbook. This is also where part of the movie North and South was filmed.

It’s all about the culture and history, and this place has plenty of it. Shopping at Slave Market is kind of eerie. It’s a flea market sort of place, but knowing that this was the first place that slaves saw once they got off of the ships…it’s kind of freaky. This is the place where they were auctioned.

I don’t mind living here, but I can’t see why anyone would want to visit.

But make sure you have enough TIME to see everything. It’s a big place.
