The Lanes
Worth visiting!
Memories
I only just stumbled across The Lanes on here. It was my favourite place in the world when I was 5 years old. I’m Australian but we were living in Hove at the time.

I was surprised that White Cliffs had not been listed yet, and that so far I’m the only one. I think it would be so great getting to go there.
There is accomodation in dugouts below the ground there, opal mining, and the place has an amazing history. It’s such a pity that there are no pics added so far for White Cliffs. Any photos I’ve added on 43Places have been ones I’ve taken myself… and I’d be uncomfortable grabbing any from elsewhere and loading them. But I might email a business out there and see if I can get permission to use one of theirs if I reference it accordingly.
If you’re into Google Earth, look up White Cliffs, NSW, Australia. All you’ll see is a few buildings, as a fair bit is below the ground (although – it is a small place too). Then scroll just a tiny bit north… and all the holes in the ground make it look like an ant colony.

I was pretty happy staying there. The room service food was really good, and it is in a very convenient location. I may end up staying there again.

It’s nice to know that so far everyone on 43places who has been to Toowoomba has said that it’s worth visiting. It is quite a nice city actually.

I’d love it if there were some photos of Hooker, Oklahoma, on here… but I’m positive that that’s not what these photos are of.
Edit: Taken care of now I see – cool

I like the shopping centre there… usually go every time I’m in Cairns.

This is a very small town, and if your in this part of the world it may be unlikely that you’d be making your accomodation there… but I think the local pub is absolutely worth the trip out. I live in the general area and I’m hoping I get to take many more trips out there. The very next time I get to go I’ll take my camera and get some photos to upload here.

I stayed at The Islander Noosa Resort last time I was there, and found it excellent. (I’m not affiliated with it at all, just loved the resort so much that that’s the reason I want to go back to Noosa again). Their web address is: http://www.islandernoosa.com.au/

Shouldn’t be too long before I get to go… it isn’t that far. I like the little towns in this area, and am curious. Hopefully I will be able to take a couple of photos and upload them.

One side of my family is from Gnowangerup. I’m sure to have cousins and other relatives still living there, and a visit would certainly help me put together part of my family tree.
I know that my Grandfather and his brothers were very proud of being from this town.
