Worth visiting!
xeno Toronto Trip
I went to Toronto for two reasons:
1. To go to a Ben Folds concert.
2. To visit with friends from my World of Warcraft guild (xeno).
The concert was amazing. I have never seen an artist play as long of a set as Ben did. The show was at a club called The Kool House; it’s standing room only and we were standing for four hours, so my legs were killing me by the end. The doors opened at 8:00 PM, my friends and I chilled and waited for teh opening act: Eef Barzelay. The guy is classified by iTunes as Alt-Country—I would classify him as ultra-depressing. Everything he played had a message of “Give up.” or “Don’t be mean to me.” I could have done without him entirely. But, then, over the speakers came the sound of “The Final Countdown.” Ben emerged. From that point forward the awesomness didn’t stop. He played for two hours straight—nearly every song I could think of off of almost all of his albums. Aside from the great music and the crowds enthusiasm, he was just an all around funny guy. I didn’t expect him to make me laugh as many times as he did. Totally worth seeing.
The visit with my guildies was equally awesome. I had met a couple of them when they came to the Orlando meet that I hosted, and it was great to get to meet several more. Everyone was cool, and we had a great meal and evening. I can’t wait for our next meet in Dallas/Ft. Worth.
