George's Sausage & Deli
Worth visiting!
A review of this place: Polish Sausage, Mead, Beer, Sweets, Bread, Pickles - Yummy Yummy
I come to George’s Deli ever few months mostly for the Polish sausage, ham, pickles and sweets. If you are Polish and like to eat this is the only place in Seattle I know of to get these things fresh. Last time I went was on 9/07/07. The meat is fresh since there is a butcher employed who makes all the Polish hams and sausages and keeps them in their very own smoke room. All the products from candy to pickled mushrooms are imported from Poland & Chicago on regular basis, especially since there is a pretty good size Polish population in Puget Sound. Poles from Tacoma, Everett and the surrounding area drive here to get those Polish essentials. If you go ask for some Canadian Bacon – that would be Polish lean ham “Polendwica, or if you would like a pre-cooked sausage to throw on the grill ask for “Sausage for the grill” – “Kielbasa Zwyczajna”. That should be a good start. For candy start of with a small package of “krowki” polish soft chew caramels, they are in little transparent plastic bags, each piece wrapped in a yellow paper with a cow on it. Poland is not known for its wine and the mead is very different from the one made in US, so try some Polish beer instead, the price is here is lower then in Central Market. Smacznego, or Good Eating.
