I went here with my best friend paul last year. Such a beautiful city it really is like something out of a fairy tale, the weather was amazing when we were there and it was so nice just to walk down to a cafe by the Salzach River and just take in the world.
We did a whole load of crazy things including visiting the worlds largest Ice Caves in a village called Werfen (about 40 km) south of Salzburg city http://www.eisriesenwelt.at/ We also went on a salt mine tour in Hallein, which consists of dressing in white coveralls, boarding a train that takes you several hundred yards into the mine. And sliding down giant wooden slides…. after sliding down you board a flat boat that takes you across a small underground lake.
We visited the Trick fountains at Hellbrunn Castle where you are garenteed to leave there soaking wet and the Salzburg Zoo where you can walk through an indoor monkey bit where the monkeys run about over you head and if you get close enough you can pet them.
We found a techno club in a cave – http://www.cave-club.at
we ran down the hills sound of music style :)
We saw so many amazing and beautiful sites in this awesome city.
From where we were staying we found a small passage up a hill and at night this had the most amazing views of the castle and the river.
