Grenoble

Worth visiting!

Beautiful little city in southern France

Grenoble is a perfect little college city nestle in the mountains (hosted the Winter Olympics in 1964 I think it was) with a little bit of everything: eating, shopping, history and culture, part sophisticated urban and part relaxed rural France.

Oklahoma

Worth visiting!

NE Oklahoma is the best part of the state

There’s a reason this part of OK is called Green Country, heh. I really like living in the Tulsa area, nice mid-size city.

Delivered the New England experience

This is the only New England state I’ve visited but it seemed to meet my expecations. Fresh lobster, little coastal towns, the big LL Bean store, icy wind blowing in off the ocean, old architectural styles, etc.

Minnesota

Worth visiting!

Love my birth state

I really like Minnesota. It has the Twin Cities (great shopping, art, sports, etc), huge forests, tons of lakes (camping, fishing, canoeing), best hospital in the world (the Mayo Clinic in Rochester), snowy winters (the southern part of the state isn’t bitterly cold like the northern part), beautiful summers, casinos (if you like to gamble), friendly people, no sales tax on food and clothing :)

United Arab Emirates

Worth visiting!

The Hong Kong of the Middle East

Dubai and Abu Dhabi, UAE, are probably the most modern cities in the Middle East. It’s weird seeing traditional Arab culture on display, mingled with super-modern architecture and international sporting events. We really enjoyed taking short weekend trips to Dubai when we lived in Kuwait.

Worth going once!

Visiting the Great Pyramids is like stepping into an Indiana Jones movie. You can really feel the size and age of those big blocks… going inside and climbing up the ramps/tunnels really gets your explorer blood rushing, even if it’s just for a few minutes and there’s nothing inside there, heh. Visit the bazaar, take a cruise on the Nile, buy some papyrus paintings, and enjoy the food!
