Moe's Books

Worth visiting!

A review of this place

If there’s one used book store to go to in Berkeley, it’s Moe’s. Huge selection (including rare books), knowledgeable staff, a great way to spend a lazy afternoon.

Not just for browsing, though. With the closing of Cody’s on Telegraph, it’s the best place to find the book you want when you’re in the neighborhood.

O Chame

Worth visiting!

A review of this place

Good food, great service, engaging decor. Unlike most of 4th street, quiet and open late.

Grab a cup at Peete’s, swing down to Cody’s, grab a book or magazine, come back to O Chame for a late meal. Hard night to beat.

The Starry Plough

Worth visiting!

A review of this place

Great bar food, but not much for vegetarians. Three blocks from Ashby BART, so easy to get to.

Large range of activities here, everything from celtic music (with dance lessons) to poetry slams to punk. Get there early to avoid the cover charge. Tip well, the bartenders will take care of you if you do.

Zachary's pizza

Not worth visiting!

A review of this place

Everyone raves about this place and I don’t know why. I’m not a pizza snob, and yes, I do like a Chicago style pizza (Zachary’s specialty), but the only good part of their pizza is the crust. The sauce is dull, the toppings marginal, and the cost is too high for what you get.

However, most people love it, so you should try it yourself, rather than trusting my review.
