I spent six months in Kasangati near Gayaza, north of Kampala.
I was teaching at a school there and had an amazing experience.
Try Mabira Forest for something a bit different. Nice place to go by yourself. And don’t follow all the tourists by doing all the things the guide book tells you to do. Swim in lake victoria; try all the food (be brave and forget about the food poisoning) especially the stuff sold on the side of the roads; ride the buses, and talk to people.
