A stunning church in the pre-vatican 2 design. Built as St. Patrick’s Cathedral was in NYC, it was intended to be the St. Pats of Queens, NY.

Divided alot of my time between VS and Ozone Park, so I got the best of both worlds.

Back in the early 80’s anyway, after 1990 – VS was not an interesting place anymore. Such is the fickleness of youth.

It boasts a wonderful park and pool complex. Interesting “main street” Rockaway Blvd. 2 great diners (in the classical sense) and a bunch of good restaurants.

There’s a mall, 2 movie theatres, plenty of shopping.

Not a destination place by any means, but certainly worth a look-see if your passing through.

Too much to say about this place. Aside from the stunning beauty of its surroundings, the charm of its downtown, the people themselves – a mishmash of northern and southern US styles and customs, international and inter-regional flavors, and down-home earthy vibes.

I liked it so much I moved here, straight from the borough of Queens, NY. After a full year of living here, theres one thing I can say and mean it. “That’s life in Roanoke.”

From 2 minute local news, because not much happens usually, to the 15 minutes of weather reporting – from the debate over the silly looking art museum, to the debate over rebuilding a crumbling athletic stadium – Thats life in Roanoke. We worry about the details, we even repaint our old ads on buildings so they look nice.

Come visit Roanoke, You’ll remember what life is supposed to be like.
