If there are certain places you want to see, make sure they’re open to visitors when you’re there (we went “spur of the moment, whatever happens is whatever happens,” & didn’t get to see some stuff we’d hoped to because the buildings were closed to visitors) & find out about closing times (we were tossed out of the US Mint way too early), and wait times (never made it into the Washington Monument, because 2-3 hours was just too long) for places that are open.
