Newbury Comics, Newbury Street

Untitled

Not so much with the comics, this place had about 10 square feet of comic books and graphic novels/art books and two entire floors of other crap. You could find any of this at Hot Topic, Spencer’s Gift or Target, honestly. I understand it appeals to a certain demographic, and is probably very popular with all the college kids there, but I was disappointed there wasn’t a bigger comics section. The name is a bit of a misnomer. That being said, if you absolutely need a Nightmare Before Christmas lunchbox, a used copy of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, or a T-shirt about Chuck Norris destroying the elemental table, this is most definitely your place.

Wagamama, Faneuil Hall Marketplace

Hate to sound like a walking advertisement for this place, but it had fantastic food, cooked fresh, and took special care to mark vegetarian options on their menu. If there was one near me, I would definitely go again!

Union Oyster House, West End

Waiting for this for a while!

I’ve heard a lot about this place on Food Network and the Travel Channel, and had walked past it the last time I was in Boston so I’d even seen it before. Had I known the food to be had in there, I would’ve immediately demanded we walk in that first time!

The food was amazing, and we got to sit in the old building and look out of the second story window at the taxis arriving one after another to drop patrons off for their dinner… and this was on a Wednesday night. I can’t imagine how busy it gets on the weekend!

The food was amazing, dessert was scrumptious, and the waitresses were very knowledgeable about the wine. Even more so, they had fun and teased and joked with us so that it was a fun time all around.

If you can get in here in the early afternoon to try out some of their food, I would highly recommend it. If I’m ever in the neighborhood again, I’m definitely going back.
