Wing

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

I visited Wing with my mother just over a month ago as I’d been researching my family tree and found that we had a lot of ancestors that came from Wing.

My great great great great grandparents used to run a village pub in Wing.

Ooze Risotto Bar

Why I want to go to this place

Firstly I love risotto.

Secondly I’m gluten-free and all risottos and most of the other food including ice-cream that’s served here is gluten-free (and the labelling on the menu looks great).

Thirdly I love risotto.

Hopefully it won’t be long until we go.

RIP Commercial St venue

The Spitz was a great venue and I hope it finds a new home soon.

Ice Hotel

Worth visiting!

What I want to do at this place

We’ve booked our trip. :)

It’s a little early to get excited about it but we are all the same. We’ve also booked the Saab Ice Driving event and are looking into going snowmobiling and possibly on a husky sledging trip too.

Obviously we’ll be drinking in the Absolut Ice Bar which sounds great fun too.

Kafka Museum

Worth visiting!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

I really loved this museum – probably the best one we visited in our week in Prague. Unfortunately due to the value of original manuscripts there are only very good replicas there.
Good documents, photos and stories but also good art installations to give a feeling of a kafkaesque world.

If you also wish to visit the Mucha Museum go there first to get half price tickets to the Kafka Museum. We did it the wrong way round and paid full price to both.

Mucha Museum

Why I recommend this place to visitors

This museum has a selection of personal/family photos and momentos and a film about the artist. There are a range of the styles he created and the range of his work is much wider than just the posters I was familiar with before going.

Also if you are also going to the fantastic Kafka museum (highly recommended – across Charles Bridge not the exhibition by the old town square) then go here first and buy half-price tickets to the Kafka museum here (even half student price tickets are available). We did them the wrong way round and paid full price for both. They were still worth the full price charge (120 Kc adults, 60 Kc students – currently ~ 40 Kc to the British pound).

Ice Hotel

Worth visiting!

What I want to do at this place

We are getting ready to book our trip to the Ice Hotel. It’s either going to be a 3 night or 4 night stay (depending on whether the Saab Ice Driving event will take place when we are there).

There is so much to do that sounds fun.

Which trips/excursions/events would you recommend?

I’m particularly keen on the northern lights trip but am not so sure about the sledding or snowmobile. How cold do you get on the snowmobile (ie does it affect old joint injuries)? Are they worth doing if so which trips?

Earls Court Arena & Exhibition Centre

Worth visiting!

The last time I went to this place

I saw Muse play here in December 2004. They played 2 nights to 19,000 fans per night – both shows sold out very quickly.

I’ve seen Muse play at Wembley arena too and I think I prefer Wembley arena for music but if the band I wanted to see was playing at Earl’s Court Arena I would go back.

Earls Court Arena & Exhibition Centre

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

I went with my church to see Billy Graham speak. I think this was in the late 80s. The place was so packed that we didn’t manage to get tickets for the main arena (> 15,000 inc seats in the main floor!!!) but we were sat in a bank of seats to one side with video screen in front of us.

Wembley Arena

Worth visiting!

How this place changed my life

I love live music. This arena is a good size for major artists and bands before you get too impersonal with stadiums.

I have seen Duran Duran (back in the 80s and my 2nd ever proper gig), Prince (in the early 90s), The Offspring and Muse (twice).

I’m looking forward to more gigs here.
