I used to hate it here out in the boonies. I still can’t believe that anybody says “if i could see fourty three places in my lifetime i would want south dakota to be one of them!” have lived here my whole life and love it out of familiarity and history.
The best thing about South Dakota?
Pow wows, flatbread and the most BOMB ASS INDIAN TACOS YOU WILL EVER GORGE YOUR FACE WITH!!! No contest.

not true.
my wonderful city of 200000 has more crimes against women per capita than any city in america (or did last year).
and we’re growing fast!!!
we also have absolutely nothing to do here, so like most boring places eventually do, we found drugs. and we do in fact have an asston of drugs here to occupy/fry our minds, (may have something to do with the crime rate)
but our businesses do okay i guess.
we do have small town hospitality….in some areas….in some small towns all we have are drugs, violence and really shitty schools that are collapsing all around us (no body really cares as long as they are collapsing on the reservations….) We have some problems with racism—but mostly just ancient ex-pioneers against the natives. We have nationally televised high school sex scandels—but i guess that does not make us special.
the point of my ramblings are this: you come to my wonderful state with expectations and they will likely be wrong.
