The first time for me to Barbados was in Nov 05. I wouldn’t consider it to be the pearl of the Caribbean (others may differ), but one thing you can’t take away from this country and thats the warmth of its people. I can see why people keep going back (if only for that reason). Unfortunately, it takes more than the people to make me want to revist a country. There was nothing there that caught my eyes; being as adventurous as I am, Barbados just didn’t offer enough for my liking. With that said, If you’re looking for a place to unwind, then this is the place to be (5* for that).

Not worth visiting!
I was born and spent 17 years of my life there. But since I’ve left I’ve only been back once; God help me if I were to go back in this life time, not to Kingston anyway. The North and West Coasts are worth visiting (Ochi and Negril), but I wouldn’t recommend going to Kingston unless you were born there and know how to carry yourself (and is covered by the whole Armour of God). Trust me you’re going to need it. When going anywhere make sure someone is aware of your whereabouts, as people do tend to vanish without a trace. I’m not bringing down the country (Its too late for that) I just believe in telling people the truth. My friend went on holiday to Jamaica but didn’t make it back. I wouldn’t want the same to happen to anyone else.

I spent 3 years of my life in Osnabruck (Jan 03 – Jan 06) and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great night life, and if you’re Jamaican like myself, you’ll be amased at how much people are interested in Jamaicans. Before I went, I was warned about how racist the country is, but I can put my hand on my heart and say that I was treated better here than I am in the UK where I currently live.

I was thinking of migrating to Australia, until I was advised that being BLACK will be a disadvantage, as its not all that people make it out to be where ethnicity is concerned. Is there anyone out there that can tell me otherwise? I was told that they treat visitors better than they would treat an immigrant of the same ethnicity. Can anyone offer some guidance? I still won’t let this stop me from visiting, but I just think its best that I know what I’m getting my self into before I go.
