It is here His Holiness The Dalai Lama and a large congregation of Buddhists monks, nuns, locals, tourists and those who seek salvation live side by side walking the myriad and colourful paths of this lovely hill station.

The Yamunotri Valley is by far the most beautiful places in the Gharwal Himalayas. The trek to Yamunotri and further up the glacier is exhilirating. Buses from Rishikesh( Uttaranchal, India)take you till Janakichatti. If you are a trekking puritan, you can trek up from here, or hire a jeep till Janakichatti and then trekp up till Yamunotri.

Dzongri sits a little above 4000 metres in the eastern Himalayan region. Located in the western part of Sikkim, Dzongri is a two-day trek from Yuksom for those who are up to the rigours. Goecha La is a further two-day trek from Dzongri.It was snowing while the author reached here around 9 in the morning from Tsokha during the end of April.
