Maria Bonita Restaurant

Worth visiting!

A review of this place

The BEST mexican food in Tucson. Yeah I said it! Beats all the others in town, sorry guys. So many cater to the tourist palate, if I dare. Booring, Might as well be at Taco Bell.

Maria Bonita has the BEST ground beef fried tacos, the Best chili rellenos ever, and the BEST tortilla soup…not just in Tucson, but one of the best I have ever had. The broth is light and flavorful, fresh avacados, crisp tortillas, tangy cheese, aghhhh delish! I get it every time.

Thank you all at Maria Bonita!

I would gladly spend the rest of my life in this Museum. Put me in a glass case at the MET ..with the mummies. Perfectly acceptable.

Arthur Bryant's BBQ

Worth visiting!

More bbq baby!

Yes, yes, the mighty Arthur Bryant! ummm. Portions the size of your head. Brown piece of paper….million pound’s of meat plopped down on paper, pour sauce on top of meat…slap pickles on pile, top with 2 slices of wonder bread and a generous hand full of fries….then roll “whole thing” up into tighty brown package. ummmmm. Healthy.
As a child I was convienced that the secret ingrediants in Authur Bryant’s sauce was sand. Its an aquired taste. Now I have it shipped from Kansas City to my house.

Monterosso Al Mare

Worth visiting!

Monterosso April 2004

Auhhh. Cant believe how cold the water was in April?? Blue water.
Boyfriend and I laughed at the train station bathrooms. You will see if you go.

Pretty town! Cobblestone streets winding up the hills. Free beach to lounge at. You can swim out to the breakers(must be a strong swimmer) and climb up on them like a sea nympf and greet the incoming tour boats (see the breaker in the pic). HAHAHA. I did it a few times….
Fun little bars and markets. Some of the best pesto around! Yummy “sauted greens” pizza’s and Lemon ice’s. Can still taste them now.

Zuzu

Worth visiting!

dinner at ZuZu

Boyfrind and I had dinner at ZUZU last month. Had a bottle of Spanish Tempranillo. I really like the music, and the candle lite. It’s a laid back comfortable spot.

Pros:Fried Manchego cheese with poblano chilies! Ordered it twice. Sausage stuffed Cabbage! Yum! Salads are great as well.

Cons: The potato and onion omlette, too sweet and texture to liquidy and foamy. Brussel sprout’s, Sent them back….burnt really bad. Flat iron steak with Chimichurri. Wonderful piece of meat…but the Chimichurri was not favorable. I love Chimichurri…but this was like mouthfuls of sand. Maybe they used dried herbs instead of fresh cut? It would have been a pro if the sauce was good. The polenta with tomato was very borring. I had to add salt to it.
I will go back….try a few new things….see how they are. Thats how it is with Tapas. Some you like some you dont…

Bouchon

Worth visiting!

hummm

We had to wait 40 minutes with a reservation. But at least they offered Champagne for our inconvenience. Our server was great, wine was delish…as well as salads, and the dining room alive with a golden glow! Very warm and cozy. Unfortunatly I was not impressed with entree’s. Mine seemed very “bland” for lack of a better word, but wonderful ambiance and good company made up for the boring main dish. I have heard alot of “hit or miss” response about Bouchon. I will go again soon…
