My husband and I went to Halifax, NS for our honeymoon in May 2005. I have “Nova Scotian” (I guess) in my blood; my Scottish ancestors first settled in Nova Scotia. Thats part of the reason I wanted to go there.
We walked around a lot down on the waterfront. We did some shopping in the cute shops, and went on the “Harbour Hopper”, which is an amphibious vehicle. We also checked out the Citadel up on the hill. There were lots of men in kilts there. The pubs were really fun, too. One pub we went to had folk music, which was great. The food all around Halifax, especially the seafood, was quite good. I had fish and chips almost every night… It is also a very diverse city. I think theres a big Muslim and South Asian population there, like everywhere in Canada. It was great for me, because I crave cultural diversity.
Another great thing about Halifax is that its relatively inexpensive, the accomodations as well as the food and other goods, once the exchange rate is taken into account.
Overall, excellent trip. Id definately go back.
