El Paso

Passed through to pick up my cousin at the airport

Feels like a real city after living in Las Cruces for a year.

White Sands Missile Range Museum & Missile Park

Worth visiting!

Not fond of missles

But their historical significance is worth the side trip if you are travelling into or from Las Cruces, or visiting White Sands National Monument.

Go for the full moon experience

I have been to White Sands three times – in bright sun, during a rainy day and at night. All are worth the trip. Quite stunning!

Temporary Resident

I will be here a year and am enjoying the town a lot. It is easy to get around and the people are very nice. The colors of the houses contrast with the desert plants and all is overseen by the beautiful Organ Mountains.

I look forward to seeing more of this city and the region.

Duluth

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

was in January 2008. I interviewed for an internship at the University. Due to other obligations and limited flight options in and out, I stayed a couple of nights and was able to do a little sight seeing in spite of the minus 17 degrees (F) temperatures! I was told that it had been a mild winter, only 40 inches of snow by that time.

I stayed in the Radisson (Top of the Harbor restaurant and all) and walked (indoors) through the skywalk, which connects the hotel to other parts of the Duluth downtown. Clever people! Staying indoors and still getting out and around.

I will upload a picture I took from one part of the skywalk that goes over a street.

Also recommend Tuerkes German shop – chocolates, Christmas decorations, coffee!

Enjoyed the campus and noticed that most of the buildings on the campus are also connected, out of the cold, through underground hallways.

Brrr…

Norfolk

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

was in January 2008 – I was there for two days, one night. Stayed at the home of one of my niece’s and had an interview for an internship. Would like to go back for a vacation some day. The land seemed flat and there was a hint in the air of the salt breezes….

Cottage Grove

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

Was in January 2008. I interviewed for an internship in Portland, so flew into Eugene to stay with my sister in Cottage Grove. The greens in Oregon are so green! Really a deep color. I enjoyed the visit, and though only in Oregon briefly, have a better idea of the area between Eugene and Portland. Hilly, mountains in the distance, logging remnants, moisture and friendly people. Gray skies, too, while I was there!

An Anglophile in America

Is there an AA meeting nearby? Anglophiles anonymous? I do so long to return to England. Sigh.

Pottstown

Worth visiting!

Finally arrived

About one month ago I was in the Exton area and said to myself, “self, why don’t you take a drive to Pottstown, since you always wanted to see it?” So I did. Now, mind you, I only drove through and around a couple of times…kept an eye out for the local tourist or historical society but didn’t come across it. Will return with a plan some day.

Want to do some genealogy research there….see Sanatoga Park, where my great-grandfather worked…

You can see the towers of Three Mile Island nuclear plant from there – quite formidable…
