Pikes Peak, Front Range

Untitled by PattiButche

If you are flying in from below or near sea level, be careful to give yourself time to adjust to Denver before rushing up to Pikes Peak. If you go up there, be careful about the high altitude.

Garden Of The Gods, Colorado Springs

Plan to walk by PattiButche

The Garden of the Gods is a great place to spend the entire day. The rock formations look so different at different times of the day. Most of the park is a walking experience. Wear comfy shoes! You can also picnic here, so its a great place to plan a whole day.

Great Sand Dunes National Park, Colorado

Surprise creek! by PattiButche

I was so shocked to arrive at the dunes and find a creek circling the dunes. We had to cross the stream before climbing the dunes, which made the whole experience surreal. It is a perfect summer day “spot”. Bring the beach chairs and spend the day in the warm sun, in a cool stream, with your toes in the sand.

Philadelphia Museum of Art, Parkway Museums District

Untitled by PattiButche

This museum needs more than one day if you hope to see the whole thing. I love the city in Spring and Fall – so I recommend these seasons for traveling through the city. If you plan to visit the museum, wear comfy shoes and plan to be there all day long.

Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado

Untitled by PattiButche

The primary roads through the park were closed for winter. But several people were in the park enjoying the snow and trekking through the quiet park.

Burns, Oregon

Drive through by PattiButche

Really not worth staying. A definite “drive through” town. We stayed on our drive thru and nearly rolled with laughter when the hotel posted warnings that guests shouldn’t clean their motorcycles or guns with hotel towels. Nor should guests clean their “birds” in the hotel sink. This should be a sufficient warning for any guests planning to stay!

Philipsburg, Montana

Sapphire hunting by PattiButche

We visited Philipsburg for the Sapphire “mining” that they offered. but we found the CUTEST lil town tucked into the mountains. It’s definitely work a nice visit. And if you have a spare day, stop by the Sapphire Gallery. For $25 bucks you get a bag of dirt with a cut sapphire in a packet attacked to the bag. Then an assistant will help you stage your sapphires on a screen (by washing) and flop it onto the table where you pick off the stones you find. If your lucky, you may get a few pieces you can have facetted.

We really enjoyed our visit.

BTW, we stayed at the Broadway hotel in Philipsburg. Oh my, it was a lovely place. Please visit it!

Las Vegas, Nevada

Time Share Bandits by PattiButche

Ok … this was my fourth or fifth trip to vegas… and I can’t tell you how sick I was of being hounded by Time Share nags. Now they aren’t just hawking outside on the street, but they’re in the casinos, wearing the casino employee’s uniforms, and simply hound you relentlessly every 20 feet. I was SO sick of it that it ruined my entire vacation.

It’s just me: but I won’t be going back for a while.

Death Valley National Park, Death Valley

Untitled by PattiButche

I never knew this place was going to be as colorful and vibrant as it was; there was color and texture everywhere. We drove into Death Valley on our way to Anaheim; we didn’t stay in the park but the drive through and photographs were amazing!
