Michigan is not Detroit and Detroit is not Michigan. Most of Michigan is very rural, very forested. In the wintertime, a ton of snow falls in western Michigan, but the folks there are used to it. Go to Michigan to enjoy the activities and culture of Detroit but also go to Michigan to enjoy the rural countryside.
