I got attacked by two policemen on the first night.

One glassed me in the side of the head, the other smashed the backs of my legs leaving my with extensive ligament damage.

Over the course of the week, I have yet to see such unwarranted, aimless and brutal violence as what I saw almost every night we were there.

We were told by several of the various people working on the resort that the local police and the doormen routinely beat and mug the holiday makers.

My story was sadly just one of many.

Do not go to this place…

Plenty of sun cream.

Make sure you’ve got air conditioning in your room.

If you’re on the same part of the island I was on, get used to the endless stream of traffic on the main strip. Everything from bikes, quads, trikes, beach buggies and scooters .. it’s noisy!

However, I thought the nightlife was amazing!

Pretty much all of England is made up of strong accents and good old Barnsley is no exception!

The local dialect itself is sub-divided, so those from foreign parts would do well to have a local guide who can speak Queens English!
