I think that you can find just about anything here that you’ve a) lost, b) are looking for, or c) don’t want to find.

There is a painting at the Tate Museum by Waterhouse titled, “The Lady of Shallot.” I went to the Tate on my last day in London and sat on a bench directly in front of that painting for at least an hour, wondering if I could ever even dream of painting something that elusive and mysterious.

I walked up and down la via dei Condotti in January 1983. That day in Rome was sunny and warm and I noticed that almost every woman shopping on that narrow street wore either beautiful leather pants, a fur coat, or both. I bought a unique hand knit sweater and I still have it.
