The Veggie Grill, University Center

Really enjoyable new vegetarian option for eating in OC

Like I’ve said many a time elsewhere, I’m omnivorous — what matters is good food, first and foremost. I think the Veggie Grill folks have nailed a good combination here — tasty cuisine in a Native Foods style, but a little more affordable (handy for the college students, to be sure!) while not skimping on either taste or creativity. Our party had everything from soups to salads to sandwiches and desserts, and from the steamed kale to the sweet potato fries to the carrot cake and more besides, it was a winner. Recommended!

Pete's Cafe And Bar, Downtown

A weird mix of the snooty and the relaxed but...

…the important thing is that they’re there if you need a quick dessert fix after eating elsewhere, if you’ve not eaten there earlier. Handy for shows over at the Smell too. It’s nice, it’s there, I won’t assume it’s deathless but I’m glad it’s around.

Bar 107, Downtown

The right mix of dive and elegance

More on the dive side to be sure. Great selection, solid bar staff and the atmosphere is fantastic. Perfect for in-depth chats about things in their booths, as we all found out the other day. By all means go!
