Worth visiting!

Construction, Rain and Beauty

Kelli and I visited here on vacation a couple weeks ago. We got a deal on Ebay for the use of a timeshare for a week. (No we didn’t buy a timeshare.) It was a little run-down, but nice enough. The kicker was the jackhammers, dumptrucks, cranes, metal saws, etc… right outside our window. It went on all day, from 7:00am to 6:00pm. Needless to say, we spent most of our time outdoors and away from our room.

The weather was cloudy and it was a little cold, mostly low 70’s all week. A few days we found sun and high 80’s, but that wasn’t the norm. Kelli wore a sweatshirt over her bikini a lot of the time.

The hiking was really cool, very rough and very muddy but beautiful. If we go back, we will camp for sure.

Oh and the surf was pretty rough, we did get to go snorkeling at Tunnel’s beach and Ke’e, but it was cloudy so we couldn’t see much.

It sounds like we had a bad time, but it wasn’t that bad. We still had lots of fun, sitting on beaches in our sweatshirts and reading to each other.

New Mexico

Worth visiting!

Northern New Mexico

I turned 15 at the Philmot Boy Scout ranch during a two week backpacking trip. Its a lot like Colorado. I have great memories of that trip.

I’ve driven through southern New Mexico a few times, a very dry and arid place.

Florida

Worth visiting!

Parts of this state are nice.

I’ve spent a few weeks in Orlando at conferences and I must say that it isn’t my favorite place. Tourist Crap!

I really liked the Kennedy Space Center east of Orlando and the gulf side has some nice, calm beaches.

Colorado

Worth visiting!

Great moutains, great hiking, great climbing, great beer. This is my kind of state. I would live here in a second.

I’ve spent time in Colorado Springs, Boulder, Grand Junction and a few other small towns I can’t remember.

Kansas

Not worth visiting!

Kansas can be pretty, it is always exciting to drive through on the way to Colorado. I love watching the horizon just waiting for the mountains to come into view.

Memphis is a fun city, great food, great music. Spent a few childhood vacations here: Lookout Mountain, Rock City, Ruby Falls, lots of civil war battlefields with piles of cannonballs.

Mississippi

Worth visiting!

Two things I remember about Mississippi:

1. You can buy pickled pig parts: ears, feet, tounges, etc…
2. A beautiful coastline with great sunsets.

New Orleans

Worth visiting!

2000, New Years Eve Eve

Spent the day wandering around the French Quarter watching all the workers setup for the next nights festivities.

It seemed like a dark city with lots of history.

Georgia

Once I spent the night sleeping in the back of a pickup truck in a parking lot of a shopping mall.

Atlanta was a fun place to visit, Kelli and I spent 2003 New Years at a hotel in downtown Atlanta. That was the trip we got to see the Hawks play the Spurs in box seats. Fun times.

Oregon

Worth visiting!

Portland is awesome.

I spent a week here in Portland at a conference and really enjoyed the city. Great character, fun place.

Then we rented a car and headed out to the coast, camping in a little roadside campground. The Oregon coast was increadible, the huge trees surrounded by giant ferns and lots of rocky cliffs with beaches.

I’d love to live here someday.
