Worth visiting!

Beautiful but chaos now !

I visited the Ivory Coast for 2 weeks in 2002. A friend of mine was there so I wanted to see the Ivory Coast with her before she returned to the states.

The one place that really stuck in my mind was the Basilica in Yamoussoukro which is the largest Christian church in the world. It was unbelievable. I was truly overwhelmed because it was beautiful, but it is the middle of no where. You are charged an admission fee to go into the church and unfortunately, the locals do not attend the church because they cannot afford the admission fee.

Daytona Beach

Worth visiting!

Family is from here

I am in Daytona Beach at least once or twice a year. Beautiful weather and a small town. It is a great place to relax and regroup. When I go to Daytona, it is my quiet time to myself. I prefer staying on the beach because waking up to see the sunrise over the ocean is simply gorgeous.

Iowa City

Worth visiting!

Lived there for 3 years

Don’t go in the winter because it is extremely cold and the wind will literally kill you. Fall is a nice time to visit. I attended graduate school at the University of Iowa. Although I was not very fond of the program I was in, I enjoyed Iowa City because it was almost like being in a New England small town but it was in the heart land.

Oberlin College

In September, I visited Oberlin, OH for the black student reunion at Oberlin College. I really enjoyed myself because I had never been to Ohio. Everyone I met was extremely friendly and sincere at the campus and off campus.

Go go go!

Paris is beautiful. The country side is breath taking and most importantly, the food is to die for!! While in France, it was the first time that I tried Mussels. I did not know what they were but they tasted like chicken to me so I ate an entire bowl of the mussels!

Italy is exciting

Although I went a LONG time ago, I was in Milan and Venice. The shopping was awesome, but this is when the dollar was strong. I had the Gucci bags, Fendi and Bottega bags before they really became popular because I had these bags back in the late 80s. I remember kids would ask me about my bags and they could not believe I got them in Italy. You could get a good bag that was worth $150 for half the price back then.

In Venice, I went to St. Marks square and then to an area which was a glass making factory. It was awesome seeing these workers make wine glasses, glass vases, etc.

I would definitely like to return to Italy, but visit Rome, Florence and other places that I have not seen.
