Cenacolo Of Ognissanti, Firenze

Beautiful Last Supper fresco

Domenico Ghirlandaio’s gorgeous fresco is reached through a lovely cloister with frescos of the Life of St. Francis. Sit (in near solitude) and contemplate the beautiful colours and graceful figures of Ghirlandaio…so peaceful.

The Chiesa di Ognissanti next door is also worth a visit, containing paintings by Botticelli (Saint Augustine in his Studio) and Ghirlandaio (Saint Jerome). Botticelli is buried here. This was the church of the Vespucci family (as in Amerigo Vespucci – namesake of North and South America)

Vivoli, Firenze

Tasty gelato, but not necessarily the best...

This place is a bit hard to find, but their gelato is worth the search. Very smooth and a large selection of burst-in-your-mouth flavours.

(BUT no better than Gelateria La Carraia just across Ponte alla Carraia in the Oltrarno. Carraia was cheaper too so it was our gelateria of choice during our week in Firenze.)
