It’s hard to call this place a hotel, it actually reminds me more of a southern U.S. style Civil War building, at least when seen from the beach. The interior is nice, and is slowly being renovated.

It is a little out of the way, which is what I prefer. It’s past the Hilton and the Japanese restaurant and difficult to find. Call for directions.

It is a very relaxing atmosphere, and Ms. Aida is a most gracious host. I look forward to bringing my wife there for a romantic getaway.

Just a hair south of San Juan you can find the Little Surf Maid resort, plus some others, along a very nice beach.

Learning to surf will cost you 400 pesos per hour ($10.) The waves are good and from what I can tell the water is clean (compared to the nastiness a little further south by La Union.)

In the off season the Little Surf Maid is 3200 pesos for it’s most expensive suite. Nice room, two beds, a patio overlooking the beach, refrigerator, TV, aircon, separate living area from the bedrooms. Plus, the staff is very very friendly.

If you see Uffe (pronounced Oooh-Fay) tell him Victor sent you.

Pretty nice all through here, although if you head just a little north and go around the point, up to Sunset Bay or one of the resorts up there, the water is much cleaner.

Head out to the country somewhere, or up to Baguio, where all of the Philappinos go for their vacation. Go hit the amazing beaches up north or cruise to a different island. Manila is just another dirty city.

Why spend your time in smog infested Manila? Go to Baguio or up north to a beach.

The only place worse than the sea around Qwghlm is the land itself!

As I was cruising around the city over the course of the invasion of Falluja in Spring of 2004, I kept seeing these. I had to guess that it was used as store sign. Alternately, it could be modern art.
