Before the invasion of kuwait and iraq. Just after the iran/iraq war. People were glad to be done with war and happy to get on with their lives.

1997 – we paddled out of the Cppermine river into Kugluktuk (Coppermine town). The ice had broken up near the shore but i could see it about 1km of shore. So i just had to keep paddling in my canoe and see it. It wws a bit like paddling through ice cubes. The boat could go through the ice but i had to paddle a bit hardder to keep up my progress. Mist over my friends and the town on the shore. Awesome!

Highlight of my trip, great food, people very friendly, not so many western people as in the more popular attractions.

I did a bunch of walking around here. At the time Pavaroti was performing in Beijing and as i walked along i could hear each house watching it on TV.

I was here in 1986 on business. We rented bikes to get around much of the time.
