Eugene

Worth visiting!

I went to U of O and lived here in the 90's

Great college town! Hippie types especially love it! Of all the towns/cities I’ve lived in (9), definately my favorite! I wouldn’t mind living there again. I actually lived half the time in Eugene, and the other half in Springfield, which is right smack dab next to Eugene, and the cost of living is a bit less than Eugene.

LOVED UofO…miss all the track meets and football games! Fall in Eugene is the best time of year….beautiful! It rains too much in the spring! Summers can be warm, but not too hot. Lots of culture to enjoy.

I used to work at Hirons Drug Store on E 18th…a one-of a kind mom-n-pop type family owned store (they have two locations). Great store! Lots of cool things and very unique!

Bremerton

Worth visiting!

Not the greatest place in the NW, but not too bad...

I went to HS in the Bremerton/Silverdale area…Olympic HS. Not too bad a place…but the great part is that it is only an hour ferry ride from Seattle.

The Seattle/Bremerton Ferry ride is a MUST NOT MISS activity if you are in the area. BEAUTIFUL! And if you are lucky enough to have good weather, you will get to see my favorite view in the world….Seattle’s city scape with Mount Rainier in the back ground…so beautiful!

My dad, brother and sister, husband’s parents and his brother, my grandma and an uncle all still live there and love it.

The picture is of my son on the Bremerton Ferry leaving Seattle, with, of course, Seattle in the background.

Sequim

Worth visiting!

I lived in Sequim when I was a kid...

Loved living here! Such a beautiful place and right in the banana belt of Washington State. Lots of people retire here because of the great weather…Sequim gets very little rain and has the most sunshine in the state.

I used to live right down the road from the Olympic Game Farm. Back in the mid 70’s when we lived there, they still had a lot of animals used in movies. I don’t know if they still do or not. Last time I visited was in ‘99.

The last couple of years we lived there we lived in Dungeness Meadows…a gated community right by the Dungeness River. The river was just 50 feet behind our house.

Port Angeles

Worth visiting!

I was born in Port Angeles!!!

Any town on the water in NW Washington State is worth visiting. And the Olympic Mountains are right there, Hurricane Ridge is a great, fun place to visit and go hiking. There are also lots of other outdoor activities, lakes, rivers, etc. Very nice little city and a ferry ride away from Victoria BC!

Port Townsend

Worth visiting!

Port Townsend, WA....great old town with Victorian charm!

I love this old town…and better yet it is right on the water…such a beautiful place. But then again, I am totally partial to NW Washington State. I used to visit PT a lot when I was a kid growing up in Sequim, WA. Then when I was 15 I lived in Hadlock, WA, which is only about 15 miles from PT.

Lots and lots of cool old buildings and Victorian homes. Even a “haunted” Victorian mansion you can rent a room in. My mom stayed there once…said it was fun but didn’t hear or see anything. Lots of nice B&Bs.

If you visit, be sure to check out Fort WArden State Park. I’ve been there several times and had a blast as a kid playing around in all the old bunkers.

There are some nice, quiet beaches as well.

If you can, go in May when they have the great Rhodendron Festival.

And once again, talk about a view!

Shreveport

Not worth visiting!

Shreveport, LA (Bossier City)

See my comments about Bossier City! Claim to fame: Lots of big casinos!

Bossier City

Not worth visiting!

Bossier City, LA (Shreveport, LA) Barksdale AFB

We are stationed here in Bossier City, at Barksdale AFB. Bossier City is right next to Shreveport, LA, in the NW corner of the state of Louisiana. Shreveport is considered the “armpit” of Louisiana. Can’t say I’d argue…. but it isn’t THAT bad, I guess. We are only 3 hours from Dallas, which is kind of nice. The weather is hot and muggy most of the time. Lots and lots of bugs. The two cities are divided by the Red River. There are lots of hunting and fishing opportunities, as well as watercraft opportunities, if you are into those kind of things. We would love to have a boat… Schools aren’t that great, thankfully we were able to get a home in a good school district.
