Backpacker - Surfer Heaven!

Bocas is a haven and heaven for back packers and surfers alike. Plenty of cheap hostels to chose from and some great surfing. Not for the faint of heart though – people die in Bocas and sometimes no-one even notices. There are a few higher end hotels now in the area too. Tip – make sure you get off the main island (Isla Colon) and check out the great beaches and surf of the Bocas Archipelago – Red Frog is one of my favs.

Grand Avalon not so Grand

I do not recommend staying at the Grand Avalon. All inclusive not so all inclusive; watered down drinks; limited beach access in fact no beach access the whole time we were there!
