Over-priced cocktails, an anaemic dance scene, not worth it, at least not if you want to dance / hear good music / meet interesting French people

I´m currently an au pair for a German family living in Krinau. I just got here five days ago and am staying for a year. The second night I was here was the Swiss National Day, it was very cute here. Many of the townspeople gathered and walked up the road to a field (of which there are many here) for a bonfire. Children set of tons of firecrackers and fireworks´. A real sense of community! Unfortunately I haven´t met anyone in the town really except for the two kids next door. It´s very quiet here minus the tinkling of the cowbells and the tolling of the church bells. The farms are very charming.

Good news for me – this morning I heard that my visa has been 100% officially approved. Is a visa a tangible thing? I don’t know and I don’t really care. I’m so excited to be an au pair for little Nina-Vanessa and Björn – and their mom just sent me an email saying they were looking forward to meeting me. I’m also going to get to go on at least one vacation with the family, pretty sweet.

This place so was beautiful and the ride was amazing. I went there seven years ago and still think about it all the time. It was one of the best riding experiences of my life. I hope I can come back someday; it was seriously my favorite part of Hawaii.

I liked the trail for both riding my bike and walking. It’s especially nice on summer evenings. Before I was old enough to drive it was a very convenient way to get across town.

Bo’s was just selected as the best barbecue in the Bay Area and also as one of the best 100 restaurants!! It totally deserves it too.

Last weekend I participated in an anti-war march in San Francisco, and it sure gave me a good appetite. The march ended near Pier 39, and I was craving clam chowder in a bread bowl. (The bread was the better part of the meal, the slam chowder really wasn’t great.) Boudin is a reasonably priced local chain, so it was a good bet for me and my friend. I go to the branch in Walnut Creek too, and I actually think that one is a bit better. But neither place is bad at all! While we were eating at this one, a pigeon wandered in for awhile and that was cute.

My boyfriend took me here with some friends on Friday. It was great! It was too crowded in the (tiny) inside, so we went outside. Fortunately, the heaters actually worked out there, so I wasn’t miserable. The deal at this place is that you pick a “bowl” and then a topping from a separate menu… so you have greater choice and can make many combinations. They also have sandwiches, soups, and salads, but it’s all bout the noodle bowl in my opinion. I ordered curried noodles off the specials menu with a salmon topping – it was great! They didn’t skimp on the salmon and it was delicious. The bean sprouts and cilantro in the noodles gave it a great fresh taste. The restaurant uses mainly organic ingredients which is really great. I wish I didn’t live so far away from this great find!

I like the chairs. It’s a small and cozy place. The chips are addicting – if chips are not, then they are bad… so it passed that test lol. I also like the guac – it has onions in it and not all guac is that good. Mm I crave a burrito now.
