Leakey's Second Hand Bookshop, Inverness

No Leaks here!

Cracking book shop for those who just like to browse all day long.

Has a nice Coffee shop upstairs (NOT Starbucks thank G-D!).

Drop in for a quick browse or take half a day searching for that tome you could never find.

Deer Cave, Borneo

Going Bats

Was watching the BBC’s ‘Planet Earth’ series where they looked at caves around the world. They covered on called “Deer Cave” in Borneo where up to 5 million bats gather and flock out at dusk in amazing clouds.

It would be amazing to watch them emerge in such numbers.

Isle Of Whithorn, Dumfries And Galloway

Steam Packet

The Steam Packet is a restaurant situated in the harbour area near the lighthouse.

Always busy it is worth phoning ahead if you want to book a table. One of their delicacies is locally caught Lobster which is stored by the Harbour Master in large tanks just next door. (He buys them from the fishermen and sells them on).

Friendly staff and a good pint of bitter plus a good selection of Malts will see you through a good night.

Take a wander up the the lighthouse (before you sample the Malts!) and see the memorial to the crew of the Solway Harvester who lost their lives in a storm off the Isle of

Man.
