Colombia, South America

Tickets

Looks like I will be flying out of Miami for Colombia on the 19th of Nov. The ticket one way was only 250. I guess this goal is coming together really well. Even though nothing I do now makes any progress for my future, oh well. Im happy so piss on reality.

People Mover, Downtown Detroit

some places hold emotions

This is a place I used to visit when I was little. My Dad used to recieve treatment for cancer at Detroits Harper hospital. I remember spending a lot of time in the hospital waiting, wondering why all of this was necessary. For an eleven year old I dealt with the whole thing pretty well. Before my Dad got too sick to leave the hospital he used to take me down to Greek town to ride the people mover. We didnt do much, other than “people watch” on the people mover. That was my first dose of a city, and Detroit is a city that has sharp contrasts compared to most cities. There was a man in the People mover station at Joe Louis arena doing caricatures. My Dad paid him like five dollars to sketch a picture of me. I still have the picture, he ended up just doing a portrait. In the end my Dad lost his battle, and my days in Detroit were no more. I guess thats the last place I really saw him, so it seems gray. But none of this has to do with the city of Detroit personally, its just exagerated memories from a time when I was just a boy.

Lake Leelanau, Leelanau Peninsula

Lake Leelanau

Lake Leelanau is a village between suttons bay and leland. It is the only place that you can cross Lake Leelanau by bridge, thus coined the village “Lake Leelanau.” The lake itself is about 16 miles long, there is a north end and south end, and the narrows connect the two. I have lived here on and off through out my life and it is a quiet little place, nearly off the map. I think the village itself is quite depressed, and if it werent for the beautiful autumns and the several dozen shades of blue freshwater that can be seen by driving five miles east or west, the place would not be what it is. It surely is not a place a entrepreneur can work his or her magic easily, in the time I have spent here I have seen business’s come and go(mostly belly up). With the exception of a bar, grociery store, and a coffee shop that seems out of its element but does very well. To some it up, there arent many places in Michigan that can compare to the beauty of Lake Leelanau and the surrounding areas, however good luck finding a decent job, or an ethnic restaurant.
