I'd like to go back.
My husband is from Brazil. We visited his family last year for two weeks — I had a wonderful time. Everyone was very warm and welcoming, the food was delicious (I must’ve gained at least 10 pounds while I was down there. Not a bad thing — I was pregnant at the time and my doctor was very happy with my weight gain when I came back home.), and the surrounding countryside was absolutely gorgeous.
I miss it.
I’d like to be able to live there for a while so that the kids and I can immerse ourselves in the culture and experience something outside of the prevalent materialist and capitalist American mindset.
I’m not trying to minimize the problems in Brazil or glamorize life there; I’ve heard about the difficulties often enough through my husband and his family and I did see some of what they spoke of while we were down there. But It’s an amazing place despite that and well worth experiencing.
