"Smart" Bombing
During WWII Terni e Narni was the site of one of the largest Gun Forges in the Axis Armory. In fact the gun barrels for a number of German battleships were turned in Terni’s crucibles and they have an enormous hammer forge as a monument at the train station. This being teh case it was a prime target for allied bombing missions. The sity was bombed over 119 times in the course of the war, but here’s the kicker, the forges were not hit once!
