over 4 years agoI visited Takashimaya on a trip to NY in December 2003 and managed to easily lose an hour in there.
The store sells various items from dried flowers to pyjamas to doggy breath mints (yes really!) but is probably best known for it’s basement tearoom.
I fell in love with the top floor and it’s range of gorgeous Diptyque candles and luxurious bedding. In the end I restricted myself to buying a cotton scented wrapped soap, and they wrapped it up all posh for me in a bizarre triangular bag. When I was waiting for the metro later a lady spotted my bag and we got chatting about how lovely the place was :o)
The beautiful old fashioned elevators are very grand too!
