NIHON!

The best place ever! Aaaah, the food…the FOOD! It’s unbelievable. And no, it’s not all about sushi. Sushi’s good but I usually eat sushi once while I’m there and the rest is just random goodness…Like the big fatty cream puffs at Cozy Corner or spagetti’s at train stations…you just have to go there to experience it all.

Kahala, Honolulu

Untitled

I grew up here. So of course it changed my life. I lived at the condominium next to the Kahala Hotel. I lived here when the Kahala Hotel (still haven’t been) was a Kahala Hilton (oh, how I miss the coconut cake at the plumeria cafe) and Kahala Mandarin. As teenagers we’d sneak into the spa’s pretending to be hotel guests. Ha! Saw lots of celebrities as well because it is very private.

Would I go back there? Yes, of course cuz I lived here. For the nostalgia alone I would.

Would I recommend it to people? Yes, it’s beautiful. But it’s also a residential area so I don’t know if people would enjoy it as much as I would…

Hawai'i, United States

Untitled

Visited here many times as a kid. I have two completely different experiences here.

One: Kona. My family and I would stay with a family in Kailua, Kona for weeks at a time. We would fish off the cliffs and catch rock fish and morey eels. We’d cook em up right there and have some rice on the side. mmmm! So ono!

Two: Hotels in Hilo. The only thing I remember from Hilo are the amuzement park-ish hotels. I belive the hotel was a Grand Hyatt Hotel and there was a monorail, boats, couple pools with slides, dolphins, and shopping areas. It was a disneyland of hotels. I just remember it being the coolest place on earth. I wonder if I would love it now that I’m an adult though… I’m not the biggest fan of man-made beauty.
