This was the capital fo the Mugal Emprie for a brief 10 years, but in that time a beautiful city was laid out and now stands in ruins. The town outside the ruins is rather small and quite, but since it’s only an 45-60 minutes from Agra, it makes a great place to stay when visiting the Taj Mahal.

It great to just walk around and try to deconstruct the meaning of the place. It’s both the worst of America and the best at the same time.

I really want to go back someday and rent one of the houseboats for a week or so, maybe for a honeymoon.

Not much to do here, but it is pretty. There’s an interesting sea turtle restoration project here.

I’d recommend staying in Fatehpur Sikri and just take the day trip into Agra

Some of the best hiking I’ve ever done

The whole town was destroyed by an earthquake in 1931 and rebuilt in an Art Deco/Mission style. Lovely buildings!

Loved being able to by myself with no guides

I loved Penang and Malaca and even KL wasn’t that bad. Taman Negara was also well worth it and did some amazing hikes there. I thought their perspective on building an ethnically diverse society was also very interesting. And really anywhere where you can get dosas for breakfast is ok in my book
