Possibly one of the saddest pieces of faded Americana I can think of. My travelling companion and I were lured in by the metric crapload of signs for it, walked around and looked at junk for awhile, then settled down to 7 dollar grilled cheese sandwiches.
“Who started this place?” I asked the surly waitress.
“His name was Alan Shafer,” she said. “He died last week.”
That pretty much ended the conversation.
over 6 years agoIt’s great to dork out on colonial history, if you’re into that sort of thing. Even if you’re not, marvel at the actors/residents and see if you can get them to break character.
over 6 years agoI’ve been here, but not for Space Camp, sadly. Do they have Space Camp for grownups? I think that would be the funnest thing imaginable.
