London, England

eleventybadgers asks,

“I'm thinking of moving to London. I live in the US but I'm a UK citizen(haven't lived in UK since childhood), so I'm v.scared about the culture change and trying to live in a big city. Are people generally friendly? Any advice for a terrified person?”

Kremmen answers,

London is horribly expensive to live in and horribly expensive to buy anything in. Whether it’s pizza or computers or food, London is about 2-3 times the cost of most parts of the US or Australia. As a result, many Londoners simply have much less social life and don’t go out much, because they can’t afford to. Added to that, the weather is crap, transport is variable and Heathrow airport is a shambles.

There are many cool things to do in London. It’s a great place to visit. … but one of the worst places in the world to live.

Venezia, Veneto

jamid asks,

“For people who both loved it and... didn't love it, in what month did you visit? (Please note whether you loved or... didn't love it.) Thanks!”

Kremmen answers,

Loved it … visited in August. Quite a lot of people there, but not too crowded.

Cedar Point, Sandusky

ChngLeeYoong asks,

“Hi, i'm goint to this place for a work-and-travel program for 3-month long, is there any other places i shouldn't miss? Thank you”

Kremmen answers,

Cedar Point itself is fantastic, but the most important other things around there is the highways … so you can get there, and leave. :)

Cedar Point, Sandusky

ChngLeeYoong asks,

“Hi, i'm goint to this place for a work-and-travel program for 3-month long, is there any other places i shouldn't miss? Thank you”

Kremmen answers,

I’m from Australia and I’ve driven in about 10 US states. It’s not that bad.

You just have to swap everything over and reorient your position on the road too. (There can be a tendency to drive right up against the lane markings when you swap to the other side.)

Las Vegas, Nevada

sipes23 asks,

“I'm coming to Vegas for a wedding in November. I'll also have a small baby with me. What sorts of places should I consider for hotels? I'd prefer to stay downtown, and my wife doesn't really care. Any ideas? Or am I looking for trouble with this plan?”

Kremmen answers,

I don’t know why people are so down on downtown. The hotels are cheaper and have better service for the price. I know the glitz and roller coasters and stuff are great on the Strip, but downtown isn’t as awful as some make out.

Without a doubt, the best reviews of Vegas are at http://www.cheapovegas.com/index.php . Have a look there to see which hotels have the facilities you want.
