Vancouver

Worth visiting!

11 days and counting!

My first trip to Vancouver is just 11 days away! I’ll be spending a week there with my best friend. We’re planning on spending 4 days on the mainland, and 3 on Vancouver Island. We’ve got spreadsheets listing various things we want to do and are still working out or final itinerary. I’m excited though!

I’ll also be celebrating my birthday during this trip. It’s a special one for me – not because of the age, but because it’s 2008. That means, my birthday is 08/08/08! Hee! While we’re there, I plan on getting a tattoo on my birthday to mark the special occasion. (That means, time for me to start looking into tattoo parlours in Vancouver.) I’m still working out the exact design, but the tattoo will be intertwined 8’s to mark the special day—it ends up looking quite a bit like a flower in the end.

Pirates Of The Caribbean

Worth visiting!

Untitled

I went to Disneyland back in 1992 with a large group of friends. We filled about 2 of the boats with our group. We had so much fun on this ride, acting like the obnoxious teenagers we were. We were rocking the boats (oops :x) and attempting to splash each other – in our own boat as well as the other boat with the other half of our group. We also sang along loudly with “A Pirate’s Life For Me” – probably to the annoyance of other riders. Like I said – we were obnoxious teens; but we definitely had a blast.

Los Angeles County Coroner's Office

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

The LA County Coroner’s office actually has a gift shop. Perfect for an incredibly unique souvenier or gift for a friend with an offbeat sense of humour.

You can also find their gift shop online at: http://lacstores.co.la.ca.us/

Moody Gardens

Not worth visiting!

Not bad.

I guess I’ve been pretty spoiled in my visits to other aquariums and rain forest exhibits; but I wasn’t that impressed with Moody Gardens. The attractions are over priced. I’m not saying it was bad, and I did enjoy myself there, it just didn’t impress me quite the way other similar attractions have in the past.

Niagara Falls

Not worth visiting!

A little on the scary side.

The Falls themselves are absolutely beautiful and breath-taking. It’s amazing to be able to get as close to them as you can on the New York side: literally standing at river’s edge, just above the Falls. Or with Cave of the Winds, where you get to climb along side the Falls.

The town, however, is another matter. It’s more than a little on the scary side. It’s incredibly depressing and sad to see how run down and abandoned it is, especially when you compare it with how beautiful and clean the Canadian side of the Falls is. It’s a shame that the city doesn’t pump some money into cleaning the city up and attempt to lure in tourist attractions and related businesses. As gorgeous as the Falls are, and with the lure of getting that much closer, the NY side could be a real tourist attraction and bring in good money—if the city wasn’t so scary and dirty and dangerous-feeling.

It’s literally night and day when you compare the US and Canadian sides of the Falls, and the Canadian side wins hands down.

Framlingham

Worth visiting!

Untitled

My mother’s entire family lives in Framlingham. I was able to visit once, about 22 years ago, and I would love to go back to see them all again. One of her closest friends from school was the keeper of Framlingham Castle for a while.
