Luigi's Pizza

Worth visiting!

Untitled

Best Italian hole-in-the-wall in the city. Seriously, Luigi’s is incredible. The bread is phenomenal, the pasta is warm & cheesy, the salads are huge.

Only one free refill on pop, tho, so be careful what you drink!

Speaking of drinks: grrrrreat place to go for late-night drunken food, because they’re open really late!

Grog Shop

Worth visiting!

Untitled

Best goddamn venue in town, for sure. It’s gotten a bit too”scene” (everyone is, like, 14), but it attracts amazing underground, indie & lesserknown bands. Definitely the place to be if you’re into good music.

House Of Blues

Worth visiting!

Untitled

A lot of Clevelanders say the HOB is too commercial for the area, but hello, we’re a major metropolitan area. The HOB has a small-venue feel for being as large & commercial as it actually is, and it attracts some great headliners that wouldn’t dare come to locally owned venues.

Love the atmosphere & the seating availability.

Hilton Head Island

Untitled

Hilton Head is NOT WORTH GOING TO ANYMORE. It used to be incredible – virtually private, untouched by tourists, and now it’s bustling, teeming, filled to the brim with obnoxious beachgoers & college kids on vacation. It’s awful. Skip it & find somewhere cute, like Hilton Head USED to be.

Coco Cay

(in Bahamas)

The water doesn’t get any bluer than at Coco Cay. I’dgo bakc in a heartbeat. GORGEOUS.

Dupont Circle

Worth visiting!

Untitled

Awesome place, bustling and full of activity. Filled with nice restaurants & coffee shops, as well as kitschy stores, especially if you’re into the LGBT scene.

Check out Lambda Rising for a good LGBT bookstore & Dupont Market for tasty, original sandwiches & organic foods.

Tryst

Why I recommend this place to locals

Tryst is a nice alternative for those who like to get their drink on but aren’t into the club scene or the skeezy bar scene. it’s usually crowded, but it’s also laidback and always has a chill, somewhat indie atmosphere. They serve coffee, food AND drinks, so you have a variety. Prices are really reasonable for a D.C. bar & overall, this place is totally worth checking out.

Reaaaaaaaaaaaally, really cool. Feels veyr top-secret (duh) & professional. A good time for adults AND kids, even if it’s a bit pricey.

National Zoo

Worth visiting!

Untitled

Get off at the Cleveland Park Metro exit, NOT the Zoo stop, otherwise you’ll end up walking uphill the whole way. Take the Zoo stop home, and you’ll walk downhill to the stop. Sweat less!!!

A free zoo, so how much can you complain? They treat their animals very humanely, and in a good zoo, the animals are sometimes hard to find. The baby panda & elephant are both darling, and the Amazon exhibit (forget what it’s called…) is really cool.

Definitely go, but follow a tour map when you do,or you’ll end up walking WAYYYY far. Don’t go on a scorching hot day!

United States Holocaust Memorial Museum

Untitled

I was about to say the same thing – EMOTIONALLY EXHAUSTING.

Everyone should visit the Holocaust Museum at least once – NOT just Jews, EVERYONE. It’s an incredible look into our world history & can teach you lessons you never knew you needed.

Be ready to cry. But it’s so worth it.

“Never again.”
