Tijuana

Worth visiting!

Why I want to go to this place

I want to go here again or somewhere close to the U.S. border where I could drive in with a small team to help out an orphanage in whatever way they would need us.

Mexico

Worth visiting!

The last time I went to this place

I’ve been to Mexico twice. To the Baja area and to Tijuana. Big differences in the two. Both times on Mission trips but Baja was definately more comfortable accomadations.
I went to TJ last time I was there. I went with my family and too many Jr. Highers and some other adults.
We went to help clear a lot to help a local church build there. It was in a barrio. We had some drama on the trip with some high maintenance Jr High girls, who probably shouldn’t have come. That was kind of wearing. We also had some high maintenance women who shouldn’t have come.
This experience obviously wasn’t my best. I’d like to go back with a small team and focus on supporting a local orphanage. I can rough it accomadation wise if my team is a peace with each other.

District of Columbia

Worth visiting!

Great memories

Paul and I went to a convention in D.C. along with visiting our nephew. But we took extra days for ourselves, which we really enjoyed. It was blazin’ hot but we walked a lot to all the sites. It just so fun to have some much needed to time together. He was patient as I throughly enjoyed the National Art Museum.
I didn’t like the Air and Space Museum much…kind of boring to me and it was really crowded.
I do wish the city would spend more money on maintaining the Mall area. The grass and walk ways are kind of dirty and beat up for me a center of tourism and our national museums.

Summer starts out with Kid's Camp

Paul and I flew to Billings just before his birthday in June to spend a wonderful week with our friends at Billings Faith Center and 280 noisy, energetic, awesome 8-11 year olds. The camp was the most beautiful I’d ever been to because it was down in a little valley with the Beartooth Mountains on one side, a picturesque plateau on the other with a green hillside on another side where about 15 horses grazed. Man, oh man. The clouds were huge up in the Big Sky country. We were visited by rain and/or thunderstorms just about every day but the sun would come out right away and dry things up.
I really my friends there too. We’d love to go back some time.

Maryland

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

Paul and I flew into Baltimore, Maryland the end of May this year. We stayed with our nephew, Joel and his fiancee, Bev.
We enjoyed getting to know Bev, and having some time with Joel, who we rarely see.
We had dinner the first night at a really quaint restaurant that was added on to an old planation home (circa 1860’s) The food was great and I tasted a crabcake for the first time.
It was really humid which is really terrible but we had fun going to D.C. together, playing games, and taking a couple of walks down to Chesapeake Bay.
