Burg Frankenstein, Hessen

One of my all time favorite places~

Burg Frankenstein is mostly a ruin, but the chapel and tower have been mostly restored. Although the name is associated with the old monster, I found this place to be the most serene and peaceful place; if given the opportunity I would return there again and again. The two times I visited, the grounds were virtually empty and you are free to wander all about the ruins and the grounds.

There is a modern restaurant built on the grounds, but it did not detract from the feeling of walking into another place in time.

Balboa Park, San Diego

My favorite place in San Diego

There is so much to see and do in Balboa Park, it is exquisite! The architecture of the buildings is called “Spanish Sugaresque” and the park is filled with botanical treasures as well. Museums galore and many differant types of sports facilities make this local treasure a must see for anyone visiting San Diego.

Winchester Mystery House, San Jose

Not to be missed!

Whether you enjoy mysteries, the paranormal, incredible architecture, interesting inventions, you will find them all at the Winchester Mystery House.

I have visited twice, and would go again if the opportunity presented itself.

The house tours are guided only (it would be easy to get lost inside!), but you are able to wander the grounds as you wish.
