Beautiful views of the night sky.
over 2 years agoA place that it positively brimming with wonderful people, a unique and fascinating history and culture, and amazing music. I went here at the end of 2006/beginning of 2007 for two weeks and absolutely fell in love with the city. I encourage anyone that goes to use some of their time to help rebuild New Orleans. Even after all this time there are still parts of the city that are utterly devestated. It is possible to go to New Orleans today and never step foot in these areas but that would be a shame. The most amazing times I had in the city were away from the typical tourist locations particularly in the Ninth Ward and Algiers. Yes, there were days I cried at the inequality, racism, and poverty I witnessed but for me it was all worth it. It was a much more real experience. Seriously, rebuild a house during the day, talk to a local over dinner, and then listen to some jazz at night. It will be a lifelong memory.
