Ensenada

Not worth visiting!

A review of this place: Ensenada not worth it, unless you're an off-road racer

Went to Ensenada for the start of the Baja 1000 in 2007. For off-roaders, it’s a mecca of sorts, being the traditional starting point for the Baja 1000 and 500 races. Their festival the day before for the technical inspections of the vehicles is a sight to see. They also proudly hang the largest Mexican flag ever … about two city blocks big … over downtown.

The view from the beach is pretty, but nothing else is. Unless you’re an off-roader, I would go to a resort town. Ensenada isn’t anything special in my opinion.

Baxter Station

A review of this place: Best Burger In Louisville

I’m a burger connosieur (sp?) and Baxter Station’s are the shnizzle. I’ve asked what the secret is. They say angus beef, salt and pepper and that’s it. I called “BS” on that. There’s something in them. My wife suspects crack.

Cancun

(in Mexico)

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

Don’t stop for friendly instructions at the airport. Just get in your cab/bus and go to your hotel. They are trying to rope you into day trips and such. They’re nice as can be, but ignore them. Go straight to where you’re supposed to meet your transportation. They aren’t as helpful as they are selling you add-ons.

New York City

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

I worked and lived in NYC from 1996-1998. There’s a hidden little Italian place on 10th Avenue between 66th and 72nd (about 70th … the blocks don’t go all the way through there) called “Mama’s”. Best chicken parmigana sandwich and dinner I’ve ever had. I’m going back soon and hope it’s still there.
