In my mind a huge ammount of the stuff here is pretentious pap which involves no skill, imagination or creativity, and is merely propergated by an ‘arty’ elite who decide what is ‘art’ and thus can look down on anyone who doesn’t agree. (This pains me slightly as I am not usually this cynical, and am aware that I have heard similar comments in other fields which just come across as anti-intelectualism)

Having said that there’s a huge variety there, and some of the stuff is interesting, and hasn’t been created merely to push the boundaries of what ‘art’ can be, a theme which should have been exhausted back with Duchamp’s urinal. Plus its one of those things that you need to have seen, if only to be able to insist ‘Never again.’

Right to the center of the Atlantic ocean, as far away from the rest of Mankind as possible. Then, I’d turn out the lights on my boat, and stare up against the clearest, brightest stars I’d ever seen.

... please don’t ask where the university is. The University isn’t in any one place in particular but is instead spread across the city as seperate colleges and departments. (Some of which aren’t very picturesque and may not be open to tourists) If you do ask you will probably be directed to the nearest impressive looking building, normaly the senate house.

Nice place, especially along the seafront at night.

Nothing wrong with the place, but nothing special either; just your typical UK village. Of course, for me its a little different as my parents live there, but despite the fact they are lovely people I doubt they’ll want random strangers dropping in for a visit.

I lived just outside Malmesbury when growing up, so the place has a lot of fond memories. Still, the Abbey is worth a look if you are in the area and the higstreet is nice. The Smoking Dog is a good pub and has a good selection of ales and if you are a stranger to the UK then its a good representation of a good quality British pub. (And yes, that does mean that the beer will be ‘warm.’)
